Rooftop Engagement Photos

Rooftop engagement photos in city

My brother, Nick, is getting married at the end of this year and I was HONORED when his fiancΓ©, Bailey, asked me to capture their engagement photos! I immediately said yes and we started brainstorming what she wanted for the session. Bailey and I are already close friends which made brainstorming for this session so much fun! She shared everything she had in mind and together we figured out how to make those dreams come to life!! I hope to work with every client in this same way and make them feel like friends who are comfortable with dreaming up their ideal photos together.

Bailey decided she wanted to have both an evening and night look for their photos. She loved the idea of involving flash at night. This was such a fun concept to work on and I quickly fell in love with the style! She wanted the photos to be more urban rather than more traditional outdoor engagement sessions. We decided a parking garage was the perfect location because of the versatility it provided!

When some people hear parking garage they are immediately confused how this could be a location for a beautiful photo session. One thing to consider is that the roof of a parking garage provides a great, open space to showcase a city. Tall buildings, scenic views, and the cityscape can be used as a background for photos from the roof of a parking garage. It also provides 360-degree views so each side of the parking garage can be a different background!

After the sun went down, Bailey & Nick had an outfit change and we used the parking garage to take flash photos. This was SO. MUCH. FUN. Even my brother who is notoriously grumpy while being photographed told me he had a great time afterwards! I’m sure it helped his mood that he was able to sip on the champagne he brought throughout the session!

One great thing about the night photos was how we were able to utilize all spaces in the parking garage. We took some on the roof, lower levels, in the elevator, and on the staircase. It was a great way to capture a ton of different photos during a session and be creative in poses. No ideas were off limits and we ended up laughing the entire session!
